Love and kindness are the foundational corner stone of the Catholic Eldercare Adult Day Program. People who walk through our door on 8th Avenue NE immediately feel the energy of a deeply committed and uniquely qualified staff within a welcoming environment.

With a heart of gold, Roxy Tietz leads the team that welcomes participants to her program every weekday morning. She describes these cherished people and those who care for them as “a family.” “Many of our participants are living with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia, and we provide the extra care they need to feel safe and comfortable within a secure location,” Roxy says. “Some people come to the program to prevent isolation, and others need physical stimulation to stay strong and stay in their homes. Whatever their story, they educate and bless us every day.”

Adult Day stories are bountiful. Sometimes they’re from years in the past, and sometimes they’re recent and involve faraway places. Roxy explains. “One of our participants traveled to Liberia to reunite with her daughter after thirty years of searching for her. She also saw her grandchildren for the first time. She was separated from her daughter when she ran from the militia during civil war in 1989.” Roxy adds, “There are also several veterans in our program who are filled with patriotism, and many of them served in war times. They talk about their love of country and what they went through to protect it. Roxy says, “They are heroes.”

Every day in Adult Day begins with a continental breakfast for the first hour, providing an opportunity to socialize. A formal welcome follows with Roxy sharing the day’s date and announcing what’s for lunch. She also gives a run-down of the schedule for the day. She says, “It’s helpful for participants to know what to expect.” The rest of the day is filled with independent and group activities, including coloring, word finds, and crossword puzzles. Music is abundant, and often features guest musicians on the piano and guitar who lead the singing of familiar songs.

Our compassionate staff cares for the whole person by focusing on the mind, body, and spirit. Family members continually tell our adult day staff that they have peace of mind knowing their loved one is safe and happy in our care. “At the end of the day, I hope our participants feel they spent time with friends and a lot of people who care about them,” Roxy says with her hands on her heart. “I think that our program does a really good job at letting our participants know they’re loved.”

If you and your loved one could benefit from our flexible, safe, and affordable adult day program, reach out to us. We would love to talk with you!
