Staying Connected
Staying Connected with Social Distancing
At Catholic Eldercare, we have always encouraged family interactions for those in our care, but under current guidelines, we know this is putting a strain on everyone. To help maintain these vital relationships we have pulled together resources to help minimize the feeling of isolation for families and residents.
Take a 6’ Walk
Start enjoying the springtime air with a walk outside staying 6’ apart. Hear the birds sing and see the trees budding can really lift spirits.
Tap Into Video
Set up video chats on free software apps like Skype and Zoom or use your smartphone to video chat with your friends and loved ones. With today’s technology options, there are a lot of ways to see and catch up with family and friends right from home.
Play Games Online
Many cards or board games are found in online apps. Websites like Arkadium.com offer a variety of card and board games that you can play with others or on your own.
Post a Letter
If you don’t have access to smart phones or computers, write letter or card to loved ones instead. Include pictures, drawings from grandchildren, swap recipes, or review a book you’ve just read.
Watch Together
Call someone and watch your favorite TV program together on the phone. After a while it can feel like you are sitting in the same room together, commenting about the program.
